While I was at walmart buying a tank for my other beta, I couldn't help but Strole by the Betas and I saw this little guy and Picked him up without a second thought.

I also tried to make him flare but he wouldn't. But this is him. :D

Funny, I didn't think Wal-marts carried crowntails. Good luck with your new boy and I look forward to seeing more pics of him in the future after he's had a chance to recover, his colors will likely be quite interesting.

I remember buying a betta from walmart a couple years ago. he was so happy to have a 5 gallon tank to be in. instead of that little jar of cold water. I had him a while. walmart really wasnt good at taking care of their fish. and this store finally stopped selling fish.

All the Walmarts around here sell crowntails,
I have some I purchased from them.

I've heard they get other types too on odd occasions.
I look every time I go hoping to see one/

Nope. Wal-mart gets the culls and mutts from whatever breeder they are buying from, so I sincerely doubt there would ever be a halfmoon in a wal-mart unless they were accidentally mislabeled and shipped. VTs and CTs are the two most common betta tail types, and also the cheapest, so that's why you see them. Although my wal-mart only carries VTs.... haven't seen a CT here yet, guess the breeder that supplies for wal-marts in this area either doesn't breed them, or isn't going to sell them off for whatever low price wal-mart wants them for.
If you get really lucky you might find a delta tail in a wal-mart one day, but I imagine that's about as clean of a tail type as you're ever going to get from there.

Petsmart used to only have veiltails and a couple of years ago they got crowntails and females.
