Question Dragonscale?

I was wondering if my male veiltail betta Monster is considered a dragonscale =)

There he is! Unsure of his age, but when we first got him he was blue and red (about 6 weeks ago) now he's more green and red. Oh and has a greenish iridescent to him. Wondering if he is a dragonscale because I was pondering what that term meant, looked it up and noticed it looked like Monster's scaling xD

If you're wondering why i named him Monster it's because he grew really big (in size and finnage) after awhile and eats like a beast xD

Dragon more refers to the whitish non-iridescent scaling pattern. A lot of people confuse the metallic shimmer of yours to a dragon scale. Here's a few different dragons though:

Then Metallics :

*ALL IMAGES PROPERTY OF THE KEEPER, I JUST STOLE THEM OFF GOOGLE

*eta, drat! They all got mixed up. Dragons have the opaque scales whereas metallics seem to change color when they turn in different light. Hope this helps!

Ohhh now i understand! Thank you so much! An outside source described it to have a pale iridescent with a strong & bright base color so that's where i thought was similarish to mine.

In which case you wouldn't be wrong. But it's hard to describe, even on my spontaneous google search, there were pictures coming up for both dragon and metallic. I think the clarification goes a little deeper than I have described but pretty much basically a dragon is opaque and not metallicy. lol

dragonscale and metallic are produced by completely separate gene combinations. stores like petsmart have no qualms about selling metallics as dragons, which leads to a lot of confusion between the two.
