HELP!!!!! Hot tank

Today in California we got hit by a heat wave and when I got home from work today my tank was up to 84.1 F. Is there a way to cool it down or should I not worry about it. The tank is normally at 80

Float a frozen bottle of water until it cools the tank down to where you want it,
I keep several bottles frozen for just this purpose,
Or just throw in a few ice cubes, Whatever option works best for you

oh i'd never thought of the frozen bottle thing!!
Although, if you throw in an ice cube, does it have the issues with chlorine or does the chlorine evaporate out while being frozen? I've never tried it and haven't a clue.

Depending on the size of your tank a few ice cubes won't hurt,
Bigger tanks work well with floating bottles
Smaller tanks work better using ice cubes,

Then again you can always prepare a head and pre- freeze some treated water, (be sure to label the bag)
Have it ready for when the hot weather hits,

Frozen water bottles would be the best to use in that case,
Monitor it closely thou & remove the bottle once it reaches the right temp.

You could also put ice cubes in a ziploc bag and float those in the tank. I've also used a small desk fan pointed at the surface of the water (leave the lid open) to cool down a 10 gallon tank before with good results.

i've also used the fan method. My boyfriend pointed a little fan he lent me at my 3 gallon once and it did indeed keep the tank cooler. I was surprised. it wasn't even blowing on the water, just at the side of the plastic.

are you leaveing the ac off at your house while your away. curious i live in az and am wondering what the 105+ summers might do. it will be interesting..
