What kind of thermometer do you recommend? I was just browsing through the PetSmart & PetCo websites to see what was available.

One that floats in the tank?
One that sticks to the outside of the tank?
One that is digital?


The one that sticks to the outside of the tanks sounds easy and simple, but I wonder, could it really be accurate since it is outside the tank?

I have a digital and a glass one that you put inside the tank. It has a suction cup on it to attach it to the inside of the tank. I've been told that the glass ones are more accurate. The glass is harder for me to read because my vision isn't so good.

i also use the turkey baster and i sucks up anything you can see on the bottom. i personally use flat glass stones, though they don't work well with plants that don't have weighted bottoms. weighted plants, though, work just fine with them.

i never understood the lb of gravel per gallon of water rule. some people don't even use substrate at all, so i wonder if just using as much as looks good to you is a good rule? anyone?
