The saprolegnia would manifest itself as something that looks a lot like dandelion fluff. It's really one of the only true fungus diseases that we encounter in the betta world and it almost always presents around an open wound of some sort as a secondary infection.

He is doing surprisingly well, still not eating, but definitely has an interest in food. He has color, he's swimming around, he's bubblenesting. So hopefully I can get him eating, and continue preventing any infection.

I saw a video recently where the guy had a goldfish that he made a sort of lifejacket for swimbladder disease. He had to hand feed the gold fish with a straw because the fish could not surface to eat. I wonder if you had something on a stick (brine shrimp maybe?) against the tank glass if that would help him eat. Being able to push against a surface with the food holding still might help the fish push the food down. Just a suggestion.

He is FINALLY eating! After having no interest in food since he injured himself, he finally took some interest 2 nights ago! When I fed his neighbor cheeto, Austin tried to get the food through the divider, so I gave him a couple atisons pellets, they were too big for him to eat, so I tried some NLS betta pellets and he gobled up 6 of them! And has been eating regularly since! I am very relieved!
