Gill flukes and filter/sponge filters?

Betta with gill flukes...I'm treating with Prazipro, and I read to toss the filter media after treatment.

But, I'm using a sponge filter. Do I need to toss the sponge and start a new one?

Thanks for the info!

I've never had to remove the sponge filter before when treating a tank, it was always the carbon filter that had to be removed
