I would think that it would build a bubblenest (if he feels like building one) regardless of how many fish are in the tank, unless he's stressed.

Only males make bubblenests. The males are the ones who tend the nest after spawning. They take care of the babies the first few days.

That's what I thought. I was just curious is all. I don't see why they wouldn't build a bubble nest unless another fish destroyed it (which they wouldn't).

Actually, some females have been known to build bubblenests, but this isn't very common. Some females will scatter a few bubbles every now and then. And you're welcome.
