Smile New to Bettas

I picked up my first Betta today and am completely new to fish-keeping. Even though he is a male his name is Elizabeth. I've read through the care section but would still like to learn and tips and tricks as to maintaining and not causing the death of my fish. I picked up a smaller tank (I'm assuming 1.5 gal) and am already wishing I would have gotten something bigger after doing some reading. I also picked up some artificial plants but also "planted" real ones in it too. I would love to hear any recommendations as to what I should and shouldn't do. Thanks.

Since you already have your betta, I guess it's too late to do a fishless nitrogen cycle.
But these threads will help you through the cycle.
here and here

The plants you buy should be silk since they don't tear a betta's delicate fins, and the real plants are great for a betta :)
Since you have real plants, please make sure they have adequate lighting for growth, or else they will rot in your tank
and that's bad for your betta :(

Make sure the tank is at least heated, and better yet filtered.

Please post pics of your betta!

Fully agree with Mar concerning real plants. The silk plants will just take up extra room since your tank is small.
