My betta, Jasper, looks like he has velvet, but that's basically the only symptom he has. His body is very shimmery with a greenish-gold glimmer. But he doesn't act sick...he swims with open fins most of the time, he doesn't rub himself on anything to scratch himself, when I approach the tank, he doesn't freak out, and his eating habits are normal. I am really confused....I have medication to help with the velvet, should he have it, but I don't want to put it in the tank unless I'm sure he DOES have it (I know it's not good to use medication when the fish is not sick). Can anyone help me out?
