Dying of old age?

How can you tell if your betta is dying of old age?

Hi... Could you fill out the form below? This will give us more information, and will help people determine if your betta is dying from old age, or whether there's another (hopefully treatable) issue going on.

What temperature is your tank? 80
Does your tank have a filter? yes
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? yes
Is your tank heated? yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? Marimo ball (if that is considered one)

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Flakes and blood worms alternating days
How often do you feed your betta fish? once a day at bed time with nothing on Sundays

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? Weekly
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 50-75%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? dechloronator (normal amount), aquarium salt (only 1/4 tsp per gallon) and stress coat (very minimal)

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters? yes but I cant remember what they were but according to the bottle they are normal

Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? darker and dull, eyes are like zombie
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? doesnt swim much just hangs out on the bottom and lays on his side sometimes
When did you start noticing the symptoms?
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? no
Does your fish have any history of being ill? just occasional fin rot (well tiny pin holes that we have treated)
How old is your fish (approximately)? about 8 months but he looked pretty old when we got him

Ok now that I have a moment more I can explain some more of what is going on. First off the tank is only half filled so he can get to the top to breathe a bit easier. Second when he swims his tail drops and if he stops moving he slowly drifts to the bottom like he is too tired to stay up. He has also been swimming into the walls at times even though this has been the same tank he has been in since we got him. His biggest thing is he likes to just rest a lot and doesn’t get excited over anything anymore or investigate things like he used to. Like I said we are not sure of his age when we got him but he was already pretty big. I had posted about his color dulling and fins becoming translucent asking what does that mean and someone did say old age. I know there is more but I need to get back to work and just hope that he makes it.
