Food question

Well, just finished my 25% water change (did a 100% change on Friday) to my 2.5g with Bubbles. I fed him a pellet afterwards, he kept kinda playing with it? Spitting it out, sucking it back in, spitting it out, sucking it back in. He did it with his 2nd pellet too. Is he just being funny?

I fed him a lot of brine shrimp yesterday night... Maybe it's too soon to feed him? Should I fast him for a day?

Bubbles, you confuse me. ; u; I still have much to learn..

Try using your thumbnail and cut the pellet in half - they usually do that when the pellets are just a bit too big to swallow whole - bettas have small teeth and they will bite the food over and over trying to break it small enough to swallow.

BETTA'S HAVE TEETH?! o__o I may never put my hand in his tank again.. lol

He's never had this issue before, on both the foods I've used. Granted, I've only had him for maybe 3 weeks. but yanno. Wouldn't he have had an issue with it from the beginning?

Exactly - the pellet is not too big all of a sudden. In my experience its a stress related behavior. Perhaps give it some time after you change the water before you feed it.

Okay, that makes a ton of sense. I'll definitely wait next time I change his water.
