Adding Ghost Shrimp?

So i was thinking about going out and buying 6 ghost shrimp. (3 for each tank)

two questioonsss:

how do you add them, like do you just buy them and throw em in?

and

is three ghost shrimp too much for a 1 gal tank?

Dont do it!!! If you want something that will clean get a algea eater...There was a case on here where the shrimp ate the Betta's tail!!!! But you cant add a algea eater into a 1 gallon. Only 2+

I wouldn't add anything to a one gallon tank. Like Crowntail said, ghost shrimp can become agressive in small tanks. Normally the shrimp are the ones being harassed, but when the tank is to small the tables turn.

Anyway, on the ghost shrimp, I would recommend acclimating them the same way you would acclimate a fish. make sure the temps equal out and then slowly add a little of your tank's water into the bag.
Other than that, nothing to it.

Two or three would probably be ok for a 1 gallon tank... maybe... I think.

But overall, I would agree with everybody else that you shouldn't try it. I had three ghost shrimp in my five gallon tank and after a few months they figured out how to hitch a ride on my betta while munching on his fins. Not good.
I think this is pretty rare, but I have a feeling it might be more likely in such a small tank where they would be so close to each other.

If you do still want to try it though, you should watch and make sure you don;'t notice your bettas' fins suddenly being torn up. If this happens, remove the shrimp asap.

Maybe save up for a three or three+ gallon tank before you start working with tankmates?
