My female betta has fin rot. she lives in a five gallon with no other fish, a heater, and no other fish. Just her. I put some aquarium salt in her tank to try and make her better. I went away and have not had the change to keep up with the water changes and aquarium salt in her tank. So basically the same aquarium salt from 10 days ago is still in her tank. She isn't better. What should I do? Keep on treating, or give her a break from it, and then continue?
WATER CHANGES WATER CHANGES WATER CHANGES WATER CHANGES . . . Did I mention water changes? Fin rot typically is a sign of bad water quality & more often than not will go away with extra water changes. How regular do you do water changes when she's not ill? Is the tank filtered? You should be doing water changes of 50% +/- at least once a week even if the tank is filtered. If the tank is filtered & hasn't completed cycling you need to do very frequent water changes to keep your Betta healthy.
