Well you could try to make his 5g look like the 1/2g like same substrate or anything it has in it. Or make sure it has the same water conditions. Or if you want you could try putting the 1/2g bowl in the 5g so its like a tank within a tank. IDK

my betta likes both tank 1/2 a gallon and 2 gallon

Well, I didn't have anything in the 1/2 gallon since I just use it to treat them. They usually aren't in there for more then 2-3 days at the absolute most.
I just put gravel and a fake grassy plant in there so it's more "homey" for him. He didn't care for the grass at first, now he likes hanging around it.

i was JUST going to post this question last night! my betta Jazzy is the same exact way. i tried to put him in his 10 gallon tank, and he absolutely hated it. and i put him back in his 2 gallon bowl and he settled down and has been in there ever since. i thought that was so strange lol. but hey, he's making a huge bubble nest in it so if he's happy then i'll leave him in there :)

Your fish probably feels very safe and comfy where he is, i would just keep him in it.
