Question about heater size

Hello! First post!

I have a little bowl, just under two gallons that I have a 15 watt Hydor heater in. During the day the water temperature has been between 80 and 70 degrees F so I've only been plugging the heater in at night. When I check on the bowl in the morning, sometimes the thermometer strip is at it's max (86F). So I was wondering if the 15 watt is too hot and whether I should get a smaller 7.5 watt.

Also, are there any under gravel heaters that are also self regulating that would fit my bowl?

I would switch to a in bowl thermometer because they are a little more accurate. Also, it does seem like the heater is getting way too warm at night. I would either not have one at all or have a smaller wattage.
Also, the temp fluctuating between 70-80 is a big jump, it should stay at a steady temp.

I use Hydror's 15 watt heater in my 5 gallon tank. I found mine was doing that when I first got it. But it's adjusted and keeps my tank 80 to 82 degrees F now. However, with my light on, I keep my heater at 75 to 77 degree F.

My heater does a fabulous job at keeping my tank at a steady temperature. I did read reviews on that heater that you may have to set the temperature a little lower due to it heating to much.

Sorry, I was in another room when I typed this, I am using a 50-watt. But it still was doing what yours was doing....
