pure rooibos tea is a great alternative if there are no indian almond leaves on hand. Despite not having proven tannin content, it is known to have other beneficial properties. Decafinated green tea has also been used. There are no known side effects from using these in moderation...Salt on the other hand can possibly cause kidney damage when used long term....
