Well, I would stop using Melafix, it can suffocate him because it is Tea Tree oil which coats their labyrinth organ.

Instead, just keep his water nice and clean and warm. Keep the temperature at 78-80 degrees and feed a high quality diet to stimulate new growth. Using StressCoat conditioner will help.

But Please fill out this sticky, just copy and paste and put your answers in:

What temperature is your tank?
Does your tank have a filter?
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration?
Is your tank heated?

How often do you feed your betta fish?

Maintenance

What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change?

Water Parameters:

Symptoms and Treatment

When did you start noticing the symptoms?

Okay, stop with the Melafix because it will only hurt.

And even though you live in a "warmer" climate you should get a heater. When their temperature drops like that and warms back up, it's very bad for them and stresses them out. Think of it like when you sit in an air conditioned building and it feels good but then you go out into the blistering hot summer sun and how you might feel a little sick? Yeah, that's kind of how your Betta will feel :)

It's best to get a heater like this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...8&pcatid=11368 the 25 Watt one is best so you can change the temperature of his tank if you need to.

And...you should stop feeding him Peas, that's no good either unless they are really sick. What makes you think he is constipated?

Okay then don't feed him for three days or until he poos. So if he poos at the end of the week, don't feed him until he does. It's not going to kill him, don't worry.
