I didn't realize they were more work. I notice in the article they say do 100% water changes daily. Do they mean in smaller containers? Because I keep my Bettas in 5 gallons. (Not counting Spike who likes the smaller spaces more). 100% changes in a filtered 5 gallon seems a bit much.

Halfmoons only have more brittle fins then the other types of bettas, nothing more. As for making them flare I don't know about that. Honestly most of my Bettas never flare when I put a mirror up, they are toobusy wanting food form me haha. Plus I would never make them flare for an hour, that stresses the fish out more then making them stretch their fins(which in itself is a joke. If a fish needs to do it then it will).

I never EVER heard of exercising a fish :-/

edit:Oh and don't do 100% changes daily, it is a waste of water. If they are in 2 gallons and under do 100% twice a week. 5+ can be 25-50% a week when cycled with a filter.

I've been doing 100% changes once a week in my 2 gallon. That was suggested to me anyway, I didn't realize I needed to do them more often.
I do a 50% change once a week in my larger tanks though.

I'd say 100%, once a week. for a 2 gallon is fine. You CAN do twice a week if you want.

No, look up the cycling process on Google. You do need a filter for it but putting one on the tank doe snot mean it is cycled.
