My friend's goldfish did that.. Disappeared, two days later after she concluded her cats mst have gotten him, she found him in the trash bin that was near the tank. She deemed him the suicidal fish since.

I guess I'm lucky because I've never had a pet fish jump. Last summer (probably in July) when our creek went dry from our historic drought and we frantically tried to save all the minnows and tadpoles we lost quite a few of them to jumping out of the buckets we put them in. There was probably 10,000 in the end we saved. We spent two days doing it. I will say, we thought we cleaned them all out of the bed of my moms truck. But, still on occasion a little dried out fish appears. Just a few months ago I found one stuck to a shavings bag she put in the trunk bed. I don't know where they are, but they're there somewhere. I'm sure the fish will turn up eventually so you can know for sure what happened.

I lost my first betta from him jumping and I searched EVERYWHERE. It wasn't till we moved 6 months later that I found him. He was stuck to a side of a box. Yeah not cool to find.

My female jumped out of her tank in her never ending quest for food. Fortunately, I found her, though it had to have been at least a half an hour, and her fins were drying up and stuck to the floor when I picked her up. That was in September, and looking at her now, you'd never have known she jumped.
