NEWBIE - Tropical Freshwater fish Aquarium

hi im new to aquariums and am looking to start one up. Most Likely a 30 gallon. I was wondering if u guys knew of any quality fish tanks that will last a long time and wont chip or crack. just want to know what brands are good to look for! if you know of any starter kits in 30 gallon size plz let me know. if none exist, if possible, please supply me a list of the things required to operate a 30 gallon aquarium. what do i need to have to get it ready to put fish in it ?
if its possible, id like to spend under 350 on the tank including the stand, fish, decor etc. if possible. if not i could probably go 50 dollars higher to accommodate
the stuff needed.

***Tropical Freshwater fish Aquarium***

Any recommendations on tank brands, stands, decor, and types of fish good for this setup?

any suggestion is greatly appreciated

THX,

What type of fish are you looking to stock? I'm presuming bettas since this is a betta forum...

I wouldn't buy a starter kit. You could put one together for less cash and higher quality.

30g tank (petco 1$ a gallon sale)-30$
Aquaclear filter (30g capacity, could go higher)-26$
Gravel- ~10$, depends on type
Decor/plants- 20-50$, depends on what you want to do.
Water conditioner-5$
Food-4-10$
Fish-1-20$

This was a very rough estimate, but I think you could easily reach your goal.

What MattsBettas said. If you get anymore specific I could offer more specific advice. I currently have about 9 tanks running and all freshwater several are community so ask away.

Newbie tropical Freshwater fish

i would probably put a beta or two in it. some tetra's maybe, maybe some small shark if it doesn't create any problems. and possibly some killifish and barbs. and some larger fish if possible

Any recommendations?

I was able to set up a 29 gal community tanks for under $200 so you should be just fine.
+1 to Matt

Keep in mind that if you plan to house 2 bettas you will need to divide the tank. Unless, you plan on doing a 4+ group of female bettas.

As for tetras, some people say they work and some don't. I find that they are nippy fish and have a tendency to tear up the fins on bettas.

I wouldn't recommend a shark or any fish that will grow very large as they require a lot of room and tend to be aggressive toward other smaller fish.
