I use gravel, but I've never had a problem with it :O

I've had to clean it once when my fish got sick, and I used scorching hot water and salt.

I have a few glass gems as decorations and I don't like them much S: All the ones I got kinda cracked or broke and have sharp sides...

Thats the bad thing about gems. I go through mine and throw out any that are broken.

Can you reuse gravel? If so how? Is there something easier to use?

Like I just said, I use glass gems and I like them ok but they do have a tendency to break and you have to be careful and look for broken ones.
