Unhappy What are these white spots on sushi's fins??

Sushi lives in a 2.5 gl tank, filtered. latley i've noticed on his anal and caudal fin have teeny tiny white specks on them. i've noticed these before, but they usually only last about a day. these have lasted for 3.on his dorsal fin, he has a black mark, and just a few white specks. the white specks arnt even the size of popey seeds, more like a grain of sand. please help!!!!!!

People warn against Melafix for a Betta since it has tree tea oil which can coat their labyrinth organ & kill them. If it is Ich, IME, slowly raise the temp to 86F, frequent water changes with a good vacuuming, leave the temp up for at least a week after the last spot is seen. I've never used meds to treat it except maybe a little Aq salt the 1st few days. If its something else well then I can't say since I don't k ow what it is with the info given so far.

A fish could have even ONE white dot and it could be ich. It just hasn't spread all over yet. Does it look like salt on a pretzel would look? If so its probably ich. You need to get him some medication as soon as possible.

Do you have a heater? If not you need to get one when you buy the medication, an adjustable one is best. VERY slowly over the course of a day or two, turn the heater up till the temp is above 80. This will speed up the life cycle of the ich and cause it to drop off the fish faster, meanwhile the medicine will kill it when it drops off.

Meanwhile can you fill out the questionnaire in the sticky at the top of this section so we have more info?
