weird new fish behavior

Kokomo the new guy has a weird habit of swimming directly under the filter flaring like crazy at his reflection. He will do this as long as the lights on and he can see himself. He wont do it in any other part of the tank though, just under the filter. Is it ok to let him do this? it has to be tiring but I dont want to to keep the light off all the time. Would one of those aquarium background things help?

I really don't think it will hurt him. An aquarium background might help.

That's what mine does too, exept he can only see himself in the background. I'm thinking of taking it off, but it looks like crap without the background.

I spray painted the back of my ten gallons black. It looks great and they don't see their reflections.

I bought an aquarium background and mine can see his reflection. He would not stop flaring. He also refused to leave the back end of the tank. So we took it down. I'd spray paint mine if I knew I could get it off easily - but mine is an acrylic tank.
