Exclamation Ick?

It looks like one of my girls has ick. Should I treat the whole sorority or just the one girl who has it?

Treat the whole sorority. Best chances are that Ich is now floating free form in your tank and there could be multiple stages of it's life cycle (i.e. free-floating and the white cyst on your girls)

If you can, hike your temperature up to about 86-87 over the course of a few days (I find 3-4 days works well). Ich cannot survive in those temperatures so it will start to die off. Keep the temp up for about two weeks.

Along with the temp you can either treat conservatively with 1 teaspoon of Aquarium salt per gallon (which you would do a 50% water change on your tank each day to remove free floating parasites and re-add the salt you took out).

Or

You can use some Ich meds, I personally used Kordon's Rid-Ich for the sole fact it was safe on plants and you didn't have to do the necessary water change before each dose. I still however did a 40% change everyday because I could and I wanted to get rid of anything nasty. I dosed at double dose for 6 days and kept the temp up a week after that for a total of two weeks and everything was set after that and I slowly set the temp back down to the stable 79.

Np!

Oh and I was corrected, it's best to use 3 teaspoons of salt per gallon for the treatment, my bad.

Good luck, I hope everything turns out well!
