new male betta :)

I just bought this guy yesterday. He was at my LFS sitting in really gross water. His pectorals are pretty torn up, is that normal for elephant ears? Other than that, what can you tell me about him?
I know it's not a great picture, he is still in his cup floating in the tank and now that he's out of the cup I can't get a picture of him! And the ADFs he's sharing a tank with keep photobombing the pictures lol.

Very pretty!

My EE Periwinkle had the most beautiful ears, perfectly shaped and big and fluffy - which he promptly tore one as soon as I put him in the tank. Seems to be growing back and the other is still perfect but I would guess you have to baby proof their tank, which I did immediately after I saw his first mishap.

Lol they are very fun to watch and they don't seem to mind their new tankmate.
What type of betta is he? He was only labelled as a 'dumbo' betta, and I don't know what specific kind he is other than having EE!

He looks like an elephant ear plakat. He might change color, don't be alarmed. :) He looks like a marble which means his color will change

I don't think he's a marble. Looks more like a Copper to me with butterfly markings. Although subject to coloring up into a copper salamander when he's all warm and happy in his new tank.

He certainly is a beautiful boy! I can't wait to see him all colored up!

Thanks! He was a good find for a LFS. He seems very happy now, I'm excited to watch his colours :)
