If his fins are in bad shape, it could be finrot. Keep his water clean and keep an eye on him. He's probably still acclimating to his new home.

Thanks for the post.

I believe it is fin rot, because this morning I found that his Dorsal fin is gone, and it looks like it ripped or rotted right where those holes/slits were.

So im going to keep with the salt baths and but him in a quarantine tank with daily water changes, if it doesn't get better i'll have to medicate him.

Any recommendations on medicine?

Make sure you have a heater for him, cold water makes bettas lethargic.

His main tank has one, it stays about 77-80 degrees in there.

Since i've put him in the quarantine tank he seems to being doing better, not really sure why. But i read a post some where about betta behavioral acts, and i read about "tail bitters".

So i was thinking maybe he knew that something was wrong with his fin or something like that and he bit it off. It matches what the description of the behavior, 98% of it was gone in between when i checked him (about an hour) and it looks like there are bite marks.

Any thoughts on this?

I think his fins are starting to regrow. Hurray!

So should i keep him in the quarantine tank or can i put him back into his big tank?
