help me please!?

B has this bump over his "gills" not sure all the lingo yet. so im not sure what i should do...




right now i am cleaning his tank so he is in his cup. thats where the picture was taking. he is staying mostly towards the bottom and wont eat but one piece of food. when he used to come strait to the top when he knew it was feeding time.
also, it looks like some of his scales are white on his face.
please help me?

I'm not sure about the bump, sounds kinda like a tumor or mass of something. But the fact that the scales are white, is it cottony looking, because if so than it is a fungus and if you use Fungus Eliminator by Jungle that works really good. Also, check your parameters and make sure the ammonia isnt too high or anything because that will obviously kill them. For now, since no one is really sure what anything is, just add the right amount of salt recommened for your tank and raise your temp, very gradually and very slightly to about 85 or 86 degrees

i dont understand when you guys say add salt. i just used the declorinator [sp?]. and i got bettamax. i think its some kind of bacteria. awe i hope its not a tumor.

Yea i hope its not either. But when they say add salt, they mean add some aquarium salt. It can be used as a general tonic and stress reducer. Also enhances tropical fish disease treatment. It improved the gill function of your fish and promotes disease recovery.
