What did you take the pic with,a phone or camera?
If you hold a small mirror or piece of mirror under the flash,so you send the flash up(instead of straight ahead)you will lose the flash reflection in the pic.

I wouldn't completely consider him a BF. Hes more of a marble, but BF is a marble variation. But hes got on the caudal, blue then white then balck. Better to call it HMPK marble

Yeah not exactly a butterfly, the seller was incorrect. If I was selling it I would advertise it as a marble. BF should only have 2 distinct bands on the fins. Yours doesnot.

These black outer lines on fins are not considered when naming. The 2 bands would normally classify him as a butterfly.

Marbles are jumping genes that causes color change - usually dark (or colored) - pale - colored again. It has no specific pattern, very unpredictable.
