Can bettas digest spirulina?

Can bettas digest spirulina ? since their carnivorous fish, im not really sure.I think ive read somewhere that they can only digest plant matter from the other organism that has already eaten it, similar to gut-loading brine shrimp.I want to make my own fish food but am afraid to waste my spirulina powder.

To my knowledge, they can. I think man high quality betta foods have spirulina in them. Not 100% sure on this though.

I don't know, but my female will eat her plants if I skip a feeding, I don't know if she actually digests the plant matter.

When I do my weekly fast day sometimes one of my snails ends up on the bottom as an empty shell.
