Who else is a kid with bettas?!

I was curious to see if a lot of people on this forum are kids? I mean by that, still living with your parents, not in college yet :) How do you pay for all of your fish supplies and everything? I only have one betta, no job (yet!) but sooo many other hobbies I like to spend my money on haha, it's hard to pay for everything I want/need for my betta. Anyone else out there like me?

I'm actually just graduated college and still living with my parents.

But it's only until August.

I did keep fish since I was 12 years old though. That is over 10 years now! I was really lucky though in that I grew up in a household that kept large tanks my entire life, so finding the money to buy things wasn't necessary as I could just scavenge for parts in the garage.

What has changed in that time is that I now only like natural looking tanks. When I was younger I would do elaborate set up with jungle themes, roman themes, etc. Basically make little stories that my fish lived in. And don't get me wrong, I still would love to do some of those ideas, such as a stonehenge tank, but I do tend to do more simple tanks now that are densely planted and only have rocks or driftwood. Oh, and I make my own rocks...

*raises hand* Right now I'm funding my fishkeeping hobby by selling off stuff I don't need XD My mom sometimes pays for stuff when I am in need and don't have money. I seriously need a job x.x

I'm 13 and have 4 bettas!! I have payed for all of my stuff by doing jobs for people I know! I'm going to get a job at a local grocery store when I turn 15 (I'm almost 14 so it's just like a year)

Cool! I started fish keeping when I found an old tank and old supplies in my grandparents barn. At the time I just had some minnows or goldfish I think and then put them in a pond. Then I got some bettas and with a friend we tried breeding them! Actually hatched the eggs, but they only lived for about a week. Now I know soooo much more about them! Since then I have had a bunch if tanks with guppies, then one 45 gallon. Now I'm just at a 10 gallon with my betta, I had to get rid of the others because I will be leaving for college soon. It's great to know there are other kids out there betta keeping! :)

I'm in college, but I live with my parents (and most of the time I pay for supplies lol) I just got a tank upgrade courtesy of my mom instead of a birthday party lol.

High School sophomore here with two bettas. I pay from chore money and get a bunch of my supplies second hand. My 33 gallon with a stand, light, hood, filter and heater was free off the street!
