Stress stripes..

So, I got a new female betta today, and I've never had a female before. On the way home from the pet store she developed stress stripes, no surprise, since she had been removed from her betta community and placed in a bag. Since I've had her home, only a couple hours, they've darkened, and her color has faded slightly.

To those of you who have experience bringing home females, how long does it usually take for them to go back to their usual self?

Will post pictures of her when she's accustomed to her new home, tho I did post a picture of her home in the Habitats section :)

For mine, it took a week or so for her to stop displaying her stress stripes, mainly because she had to adjust to light since her home in the pet store didn't have direct light on it. But my other female only took a few hours cause she settled in pretty easily :) Really depends on them I guess

my Lulu gets stress stripes briefly whenever something changes or freaks her out even a little- when my son gets up close the the glass, when i take her pic, even once in a while when i feed her. I think she just has a lot of feelings about stuff. She eats good and is very active and swimming around all the time, so i'm not worried.

I think the females are more nervous than the males in general. Just a thought because whenever I take a look at the bettas in Petco all the females have stripes, and many of the males don't. My little Diva would look like a zebra if she saw my camera! She was so cute, but it did take her longer to settle in than my males if I remember correctly.

Nina had stress stripes when I brought her home. They went away pretty quickly when I put her in her tank. I walked home with her so no wonder she got stressed. lol

Yeah it just depends. Marina still has hers a bit, but she's getting better.
