So my female betta fish Kyu is really... odd.
I have a 6.5 gallon tank divided into two with Kyu and my other female, Nya on either side. When I first put them in, they flared at each other from their side of the divider but now don't mind one another as much.
Although Nya is pretty indifferent, Kyu is the opposite. Like, Kyu gets mating bars when she sees Nya and get stress stripes when she can't see Nya. Today I woke up to a bubble nest on Kyu's side of the tank.
Now I'm POSITIVE Kyu is female. She has a white egg spot under her belly. I know females making bubble nests aren't uncommon either.
I've also noticed she doesn't particularly care for males. I noticed this when I was treating her for her internal parasites when I first got her. Her hospital tank was beside Shota's while I was treating him for fin rot. Shota would go nuts and make ginormous bubble nests when he saw her and she wouldn't really pay any attention to him at all xD;
So um... Lesbian fish? O_o;;;
Just a funny little observation I wanted to share XD;;; I still love Kyu regardless of her sexual preferences :P
