Rusty's fins are in trouble again Ideas? Please

I think Rusty is tearing his fins on his filter. I can't afford to get a new different kind of filter right now so my question is does anyone have any ideas for how I might be able to cover the outlet so it won't tear him up.

He was healing up good but started falling apart again on Thursday. So now he's in JFC but his fin is looking torn as if he tore it while playing in the current.

The filter I have is on this site...

Does it have like a flow setting? If not, maybe find a way to put sponge around the area that damages his fins :S

Yes it has a flow control and is set to it's lowest point. I think he's geting caught on the little front piece where the air and water come out. I just can't think of what to put over it so it can still filter and circulate but won't allow him to get caught. I'm not sure of all the fish safe options.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Pantyhose helps also.

Yeah, adding the panty house over the water intake will still allow filtration to occur, but will prevent your betta's fins from getting caught. Hope that helps

Thanks for the suggestion but the intake isn't the problem. I think he rips his fins on the outlet piece.
