Finally convinced my dad to let me get a heated/filtered tank! :D

My dad is a very big safety freak, and he's worried about a heated/filtered tank starting a fire.
I talked to him about how betta's are tropical fish and that in the winter it will be even colder and that I need a filtered/heated tank.
After a while he agreed, as long as I unplug it when no one is home.

So, sometime around November/December I am interested in getting one for my bettas. I have 2 betta fish, so that means two tanks.
I dont want anything too big, because then its expensive.
I'm just a teen so I dont have a lot of money. x3

Anybody have any suggestions/recommendations of a heated/filter tank thats not too much money?

Just buy a tank heater? I usually see a small one for around $30-40 at pet stores. It's usually good enough :)

And tell your dad that heaters aren't require to run all the time. Most of them turn off once the water has reached the desired temperature and turns back on if the temperature drops. :O

Well thing is, you can buy a 10 gallon tank for a heck of a lot cheaper than something <10 gallons. You could just get a 10 gallon and split it - one less tank you have to worry about and clean.

I don't know if you have a PETSMART where you live but sometimes they have Top Fin 10 gallon starter kits that include EVERYTHING including the heater. You have to watch the boxes though - not all of them have heaters included. I think I purchased my tanks for about $70 each (I have 2) - but that included the filter and the heater. I've been very happy with the Top Fin tanks. Just a thought... All you would need to do then is buy a divider. Hope you find what your looking for!

My betta's are in fishbowls, so I'd have to buy tanks.

I dont have a petsmart by me but in the winter we have season hockey tickets, we always go shopping beforehand and there is a petsmart there, so I can ask to stop when we go.
I'll look into 10 gallon tanks. :)

Try checking out wal-mart. :)
I bought a ten gallon tank for $13 and a 2-15 gallon heater for $14. Both work great. :D
