Just Curious...

So I had a minor freak out while on vacation that Fishstick was coming down with ich on day 1 because he had a white dot like a grain of salt in between his ventral and anal fins (that was almost two weeks ago, he's still fine). I've heard that male bettas will have egg spots while they're still immature, but my other (far less mature) betta, Button doesn't... anyone else have a male with an egg spot? Also, anyone know why some males will have the egg spot when they're immature while others won't?

Well im not exactly sure why immature males have those egg spots...but it is perfectly normal for sure! I think it may have something to do with the fact that they are still so young it may be something from when they hatched that eventually goes away when they get older. I've heard from a lot of people that their male bettas have those than they eventually go away.

Yeah, I agree he is perfectly normal.

Last week I changed my sand to gravel in half of my tank and the sand of course got stirred up a bit. It must have settled on my betta's head a bit because I thought he had velvet and had a major freak out before I realized that it was just sand! You are definitely not alone :P

Little off topic...Pheonix scared me a week or two ago because he was sleeping on the bottom, not moving at all, even his gills were completely still. I thought they had to move their gills at all times like we still breathe when we sleep but I've heard of other people experiencing this too. lol
