Help with bacterial bloom please.

If I didn't place this post in the right thread let me know and I will put it where it belongs, thanks.

My tank is 3.4 days old. Trying to get it cycled. The past week and a half I've been fighting an ich outbreak which is now not a problem. Now I have this milky white water with floating white things all over the place. I did some research here on the forum and found out it could be bacterial bloom but didn't find the answer to my questions that I have.

I noticed the water was getting cloudy yesterday and also yesterday I did a 75% water change because ammonia was 0.50 ppm. I tested the water again this morning and my ammonia was 2.0 ppm so I immediately did a 90% water change. What the heck is going on? Why did it happen? What am I doing wrong? I'm frustrated and confused. HELP?!?

So the cloudy stuff means my tank is starting to cycle? Is that why ammonia is spiking out of control? Is this bloom spiking the ammonia? just want to make sure everything is right on track.

And I'm confused about Nitrite and Nitrate. Which one is bad?

Oh my poor EE Elfy. He seems normal, but I fear he will get sick.

You want to keep both down, but they aren't as harmful as ammonia.

Ammonia is supposed to spike & should start dropping when you start seeing nitrites. Nitrites treat them like you do ammonia, nitrates should be less than 20. You're doing fine just keep doing the water tests & changes. You may want to feed less for awhile since your ammonia is so high.
