This one was even cheaper, only 5.50. Had a look at the ones you recommended but at the moment I can spend that much.

I already have kosher salt, so it would be great if I could use that. How would I use it, what would the ratio be? Thanks

Aquarium Salt vs Epsom Salt

Which is better to use in Rusty's water if he ever catches a betta fish disease such as ich or velvet. Aquarium Salt, such as API which is sold at PetSmart or do most of you use Epsom Salt? Right now Rusty is just fine. I want to be prepared as a good fish owner.

Ich and velvet, like all other external diseases, are treated through AQ Salt. Epsom salt is used primarily for internal ailments. To treat ich and velvet: "Leave your betta in the community tank(if applicable) and raise temperature to 85 F. Then you can choose to treat with salt or medication. Add 1 tsp/gal Aquarium Salt 3 times, 12 hours apart so that you end up with 3 times the normal concentration. Perform daily 100% water changes to remove fallen parasites before they can reproduce. Replace the water with the right amount of salt. Do not continue this treatment for more than 14 days." (From Disease Treatment Thread on Bettafish.com)

My tank is 7.5 litres, which I think is just under 2 gallons.

I got my AQ Salt (the one from API) today at PetSmart. Is this the one that experience betta owners use. Let me know if there is anything better.
