Regular silk plants fade in the water, not to mention who knows what hamful chemicals they're dyed in.. so normal silk plants are not such a good idea.

I honestly won't use any decorations not meant for aquarium use with a few exceptions such as terra-cotta flower pots and craft canvas dividers.

I agree 100% with craigslist. I've found 4 of my 5 tanks on there and I got them for dirt cheap as well :) If you have a large order drsfostersmith is the best place to buy decorations, but if your order isn't large enough the shipping will kill you which is why I go to PetQuarters for silk plants because they're the cheapest around here. Walmart usually has cheap gravel and plants as well.
