Gill flaring?

Today I caught milo flaring his gills? I think?

He stopped to go check on the bubble nest thing but why did he do that?

hes doing that because hes feels that your a threat or hes just a really aggressive guy

Well yesterday my brother poured extra food in the water and I fished it all out with a net (and of course, a water change) and I touched him with the net, he didn't like it of course :/

Bettas are very territorial and he's letting you know that you're in his territory and he's not comfortable with that. They will also flare their gills when fighting another Betta and when getting ready to breed.

Mine flares when certain lights are off and his light is on....it creates reflections of himself on the tank. I cant really tell whats going on in your pic to be honest but if he's always flaring at the glass then that could be another reason.
