Moving fish

So I am wondering if moving a fish to a new tank is really stressful? I want to set up a 20 long for three bettas. Id split it 10 gallons for my male (and oldest betta) then split again 5 gallons each for my two girls. Think he would be okay with that? I moved Zeus to an upgraded tank and he died not even 24 hours later....

It's a good thing that you're moving them to a bigger tank, and it can be stressful for your fish when they move. I think that you should put them in quiet environment, and don't just plop your fish in when moving, put them in a covered cup, and float them for 30 minutes.

yeah I floated my two other males for awhile before putting them in. The one still died though. So I dunno. Fishy is my oldest betta, I just dont want to stress him out too much for being an old man betta. Dont want him keeling over just for an upgrade. Heh.

Depends on the personality. I have had some go bezerk over a tank change and others who love it. If you think he's really skittish then maybe it won't be a good thing but if he's pretty chill then you should be fine.

Hmm..I dunno really lol. He seems mellow. He use to be crazy, but now hes just old man fish. I am thinking maybe to just get another 10 and split it for my girls. Would be nice though to just have two tanks for all the fish.

If your male does not scare easyly he should be fine=) I would definatly give the girls a whole half so they can be tabkmates=)
