Carib Sea Flor-Max vs Sea Chem Flourite your feed back on these substates please..

The Flora Max is black and $6.00 cheap and the packaging says you can use it with other gravels. How well does is work? Can you use it with colored gravel, or as cap for soil. How versitile is it? Do you have to replace it?

The Flourite is a brownish- red and says it's best used alone and it should never need replacing.

Do these substrates require addition of fertilizer?

Can you cover them with sand? Anything you can add is appreciated.
