Question gravel problem

i have washed and rinsed the gravel i have over and over again but it is still making my tank cloudy and dirty looking.

what can i do?

or shall i just switch to big stones?

yeh thats what i thought. i am going to do a full water change on sunday and get rid of it then.

Usually the hot water is what causes the colored gravel to cause cloudiness. If you rinse in cold water until it runs clear, that should work. Also, having a filter helps with that as well.

What kind of gravel is it and where did you get it?

Also, is this a cycled or uncycled tank? How long has it been since the last cleaning?

What brand is it?
I had the same trouble with Marina black coated gravel.
After a few days I took it out when I narrowed it down to the gravel ruining the water....it almost killed my fish!
I kept the gravel tho....I plan on using it as decor later.

I switched later to natual gravel that I got a my LFS.....if you get the natural stuff make sure you rinse it extremely well, there's a lot of dust, sand, and dirt in it!

This happens to me too. Just fill the tank with water and dump it out 4 or 5 time gradualy getting colder. (With the gravel in the tank)=)
