Betta Fun?

Hi there. I'm new to betta fish and I just got a lovely betta I call Galileo. Until I find out the maximum size tank I am allowed to have in my dorm room he is in a large-ish vase with a small bamboo stick (alive) a couple of shells and a largish coin. (and the standard coloured gravel). I was just wondering what small things I can put in his enclosure or do for him to make his life more fun since he pretty much spends his time staring out the window at the wind in the trees or watching me walk around my room, so I think he's kind of bored (that or seriously intrigued).

They usually like caves or decor like that that they can hide in

Yes, caves are good =3

and it doesn't work for all bettas, but some people will put a ping pong ball in the water and sometimes the fish will push it around x3

there was no room for caves or plants in what he was in before (aside from his spiral bamboo). I went out and bought him a 2 gallon tank today (that's the maximum size we're allowed in residence). Now he has his spiral bamboo, as well as one leafy fake plant that stands up all the way through and one leafy fake plant that comes up from the bottom and floats along the surface. He also has this really neat "broken ancient urn" type thing. I'm hoping he likes it :) I've seen him go in it a few times but right now he's having issues with the whole "reflection" thing. Do they ever get over that or is he going to be flaring up at his own reflection in the side of the tank for the rest of his life?
