Oh, and I have a couple pics of him, but I'm trying to figure out how to add picture/add an avatar. I'll post some soon. :)

I gotta say, my baby Emperor has never flared in the year that I've had him. Betta's have strong personalities, and Emperor is just really calm. I don't think that it's his thing.

My Red was like that in the beginning. Now, he flares at everything! Every hour or so he'll even do laps of his bowl, beard and all. My recliner is set right by his tank and even as I'm typing this he's flaring. If I look he'll stop and flutter his fins.

Each fish has a personality. Can't wait to hear about your boy's once he blossoms!

Good news!
He's been here for about a week now, well adjusted to his home, so I decided to try a small mirror. After a few short moments of forcing him to see the mirror, he finally flared! Then after that everytime I'd show the mirror, he would flare. I'm trying to teach him to 'flare on command' with a coloured pen and mirror.
I'm giving him a break for today, don't wanna stress him out to much, but I'm really proud of my shy boy. :)

Hi Leviathon, if you have a tank and it has a hood light, your fish will really flare and show his true colors. Just look at Rusty in his tank last month; before I recently updated it to his current one.

We look forward to seeing your tank and pictures.
