my plants are dying!

I have a 2.5 gallon unfiltered tank that I have two plants in. The plants were thriving until 2 weeks ago when I did a 100 water change. I took everything out of the tank, rinced it off and put it back in with the same water conditioner that I always use. Ever since then the leaves have been turning brown and falling off. I have tried plant fertilizers and an LED grow light but they haven't gotten better. Anyone know what happened and how to fix it? I miss my lush tank.

You may had changed the water chemistry too much to the point they will need to adjust to the water again (Just guessing). When I perform water changes I only change 50% and once a week add fertilizer and CO2.

I also do not touch the substrate during water changes so I do not ruin the roots of the plants.

The bowl has one betta and is gravel only. I have had the bowl for several months only doing partial water changes twice a week. I use a gravel vacuum but was noticing lately that even with the vac when I added the fresh water it back in it was still stirring up a lot of particles and that led me to do the 100% change. I took everything out of the tank, gravel included and just rinsed everything off. Not a major scrub, just a rinse and then reassembled everything back in. That's when I noticed the plants starting to lose leaves. I started with Leaf Zone and a red/ blue led grow lite for plants with no change. I'm hoping they come back at some point. Can I add more Leaf Zone then recommended without hurting the fish?

I'm not sure either what type of plants they are, I got them at petco and they were just labeled as medium sized, no botanical name that I could see, I didn't really care at the time to know what type they were :)

Is it possible you picked up a semi aquatic plant and it finally drowned?

i don't think so...one was already living submerged in the plant tank at petco and the other had been existing for months and growing like crazy in my bowl before the big water change.

Could you send photos? Some of that stuff in the substrate could have been nourishing them and when you did the 100% you removed it so now they're starving.

But that's just a guess.
