Possible fin rot & another issue with my new fish.

So I got Sam yesterday from a store, and today my brother said he looked lifeless, so we had a good look, and he has the below spot on him. I think he has fin rot because his tail etc is curling at the ends. I've never really had fish before, and my brother while having a large tropical tank, hasn't really dealt with Siamese fighters. We've got some Melafix, but I don't know if its the right thing or what.

Please help little Sam.

This is him tonight (had him 24hours now), I've just moved him so I can clean his tank.


I'm also about to give his tank a clean, and hope that helps a bit as well.

So, I have cleaned out his tank, however today he has what seems like a white film over him, and he is floating vertically. I could really do with some help, as I've only had one fish before, which my brother looked after.

It sounds like some type of fungus to me. Try using some Jungle Fungus Clear.

Yes, I think Merlin did have some sort of fungus or white stuff on him.

Thanks guys :) My brother got me some new gravel and a new fish the same day. I think Sam was just sick when I got him cos the new one (Sammy, lol I had to keep with the Supernatural names!) has already built a bubble nest!

I'm still sad that I couldn't save Sam :(
