Will an Ozarka Bottle work as a tank?

Other than being a pain in the butt to get the gravel/plants situated at the bottom, will the big Ozarka 5 gallon cooler bottles work as a tank? I would modify the cap to make sure there were airholes.... For those of you who don't know what I am referring to, it is one of these:

As long as you can fit a heater in in I don't see why not.

When you refill it after cleaning, how are you going to break the flow of the water so that it doesn't throw up all the plants and crap in the gravel?

I really have not thought that through yet. My fish Disco is in a very small plastic "tank." Its larger than a cup but just barely. I thought it would be happier in a bigger area.

I was also thinking about getting a vase from a flower shop to use. I would prefer not to have to heat it, so does this mean I should stick to the small cup-like tank I have now?

You will still have to heat it because bettas need warm water...you should be heating the tank he is in now unless your area is constantly between 76-80 degrees.
