Fin rot or fish TB?

So, I've had Edgey Boy for about 2 years. I went on vacation in August, and when I came back, his tail had fallen off, as you see in the picture. From what I've read, it sounds like fin rot, but I'm worried it could also be fish TB, because he has lost his color a bit. Or do you think he's just getting old? Anyway, I want to buy an antibiotic for fin rot. If he doesn't have fin rot, the antibiotic won't hurt him, will it? And if it's fish TB, is there really nothing I can do? :(

Wow that is some severe degradation going on here...to me it seems like chronic fin rot. I haven't seen fin rot this bad in a awhile, some of the Arctic charr at school have had it this severe before though. It appears it is spreading to his torso. You should treat him for a bacterial infection immediately, because even if it is not fin rot those open exposed areas pose a great risk for a secondary infection. Change the water VERY often as any bacterial culture in the water can easily infect him more. You could try a salt bath, after your antibiotic treatment to speed up the healing process.

Thanks! So what antibiotics would you recommend, and how do I do a salt bath? I hope I can cure him, I wuv my Edgey Boy so much!

Try Jungle Fungus Clear or Jungle Fungus Eliminator.

what dramaqueen said are good ones to start with, try those. I used
maracyn 1 for my finrot it worked as well.
