Just wanted to introduce myself!
My name is Shannon, and I am 28 years old! I live in beautiful Southern California, born and raised, although I did live in Reno, Nevada for a bit due to work! I am now a stay at home mom with my first (and probably only!) child, Hayden, who is 20 months old!
As for my current pets, I have a 7year old blue nose American Pit Bull Terrier named Poker, a 5 year old black shorthair cat named Jill, a 25 year old Musk turtle that my parents got for me when I was 3 named Gopher, 1 gold fish (unnamed) who lives with the turtle who surprisingly hasn't eaten him for 2 years (was supposed to be a snack for him......), and 2 beautiful male bettas!
I've kept many aquariums in my life, I've always had a love for them. My favorite tank ever was my 50 gal saltwater seahorse tank, that was a lot of fun!
After a year or so of having no fish at all (besides that darn goldfish haha) I was browsing the fish section at a local pet store and eyed the bettas, and instantly fell in love with my first betta ever, Diablo. I've had him for about a year now, and I really love him dearly. I don't know much about them, but I have been reading and browsing this site for quite some time now, and finally decided to join!
Because yesterday, I got my second betta (my avatar pic), his name is Leonard. He was my friends fish, but she had been telling me for a while that she didn't want him anymore. And when I visited her yesterday and saw him in person, I couldn't leave him there! His water smelled terrible, there was a mucousy clear film all over everything, looked like some kind of bacterial growth, his tank was just in revolting conditions. She gave me his tank and everything with him, although I threw out the gravel and plants and will get him some new stuff next time I go to the store.
Anyways, sorry this is so long....ill wrap it up...each of my bettas are in their own 2 gal tank, but I do have plans to get a 10 gal long tank with divider so they have some more room to swim around and more live plants to nibble. There's only so much that I can fit in the small tanks haha.
