My betta is becoming inactive

Today I made him flare because he was a bit bloated. It wasn't for very long, 15 seconds at most but after he got stress lines. I left him alone for a bit and came back, fed him a pellet (soaked in VitaChem) but now he isn't as active. What could be wrong?

Before you made him flare, was his fins clamped and then after the flaring the fins clamped again? When clamping occurs this could mean that your water parameters are off. You need to check this out with a freshwater testing kit. I have the one which is made by API -- it is sold at Petsmart.

bloated belly....he maybe sick. look closely, to see if his color is off, spiked out scales, fin rot at the edges or holes in them, or bulged out eyes any of are likely indicators that he's sick. take your time to examine him closely. and if you think he has any of these go over the the sticky thread on disease and treatment on here.

and do a water change

I've read that epsom salt in correct dosages can help with bloating, but he may be constipated as a result of the pellets you are feeding him.
